Wine Description for Latitude Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 6000ml by Larmandier-Bernier

Colour & Appearance
Pale golden yellow with greenish reflections, fine, persistent perlage. The mousse displays itself elegantly and persistently – a sign of the extended time on lees and the artisanal quality of the house.
Nose
Precise and clear: white flowers, citrus peel and green apple dominate initially, followed by notes of chalk dust, brioche and roasted almonds. The biodynamic approach manifests itself in a remarkable purity and vibrancy of the aromatics.
Palate
Taut, mineral, vibrant. The Extra Brut dosage allows the terroir maximum expression: saline minerality meets juicy citrus fruit and a fine yeasty character. The base wines aged in barrel lend texture and complexity without obscuring the crystalline clarity. Despite the tension, the wine remains remarkably rounded thanks to light lees stirring.
Finish
Long, saline-mineral, with lingering citrus notes and a hint of white pepper. The freshness persists for minutes – a Champagne that invites you to the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from the Grand Cru vineyard sites of the Côte des Blancs, particularly from Vertus, Cramant and Avize. The Chardonnay vines, some up to 90 years old, are deeply rooted in chalky soils and produce concentrated, mineral grapes of extraordinary precision.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Chardonnay. Fermentation and ageing in barrels and Stockinger wooden vats, light lees stirring for added texture. Consistently farmed biodynamically since 2004, organically certified. The Extra Brut dosage underscores the philosophy of the house: minimal intervention, maximum expression.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Oysters, scallops, langoustines, sushi, goat’s cheese or simply on its own as an aperitif for connoisseurs.
Special Features
The impressive 6-litre Methuselah bottle is not only a spectacular eye-catcher, but also ensures slower, more harmonious maturation. Larmandier-Bernier is among the pioneers of biodynamics in Champagne – Blanc de Blancs can hardly be more authentic and terroir-focused.
