Wine Description for Latitude Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 6000ml by Larmandier-Bernier

Colour & Appearance
Pale golden yellow with greenish reflections. The bubbles rise finely and persistently – a sign of the long yeast ageing and the artisanal quality of this biodynamically produced Champagne.
Nose
Precise and crystalline. Initially white flowers and citrus fruits dominate, then notes of green apple, chalk dust and a fine brioche spice unfold. With air contact, subtle hints of hazelnut and sea salt emerge – classic Côte des Blancs character.
Palate
Taut, energetic and of impressive clarity. The Extra Brut dosage gives the terroir maximum room to express itself: saline minerality meets juicy citrus fruit and a creamy texture derived from barrel ageing and light bâtonnage. Despite its precision, the wine remains remarkably accessible, with a rounded mouthfeel that skilfully balances the bony structure.
Finish
Long, cool and saline. The chalky minerality lingers, accompanied by fine citrus bitterness and subtle yeast spice. A Champagne that invites you to take the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from the Grand Cru vineyard sites of the Côte des Blancs, particularly from Vertus, Oger, Avize, Cramant and Chouilly. Vines up to 90 years old are rooted deep in chalky soils and lend the wine its characteristic tension and minerality.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Chardonnay, fermented and aged in Tonneaux and Stockinger barrels. Vinification follows biodynamic principles (since 2004), with Sophie Larmandier deliberately forgoing certifications to remain flexible. Light stirring of the yeast provides texture without heaviness.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Perfect with raw oysters, scallops, sushi or sashimi. Also excellent with goat’s cheese, pan-fried turbot or simply as a meditative aperitif.
Special Features
The 6-litre Imperiale is a rarity and ideal for special occasions. Ageing in the large-format bottle imparts additional complexity and longevity to the Champagne.
