Wine Description for Éclats de Meulière Extra Brut V22/21 by Jeaunaux-Robin

Colour & Appearance
Medium straw yellow with fine, lively bubbles that rise elegantly in the glass.
Nose
A seductive bouquet of vanilla kipferl and brioche unfolds in the glass, accompanied by ripe apples, pears and a hint of apricot. Exotic notes of passion fruit lend complexity, whilst subtle herbal hints and a mineral stone note shimmer in the background.
Palate
Juicy and delicately fruited, this Champagne presents itself with clear stone fruit, fresh pomegranate and cranberry fruit, along with a charming exotic component. Bread crust and blonde tobacco add a mature, yeasty dimension. The chalky, vibrant minerality is the heart of this wine – a distinct salinity and lively bubbles carry it through to a harmoniously rounded, refreshing finish.
Finish
Fresh and balanced with persistent minerality and a salty freshness that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
Hailing from the terroir of Les Coteaux du Petit Morin in the Côte de Sézanne, where chalky and clayey soils with embedded flint explain the mineral character of this Champagne. The vines are around 45 years old and lend the wine remarkable depth.
Grape Variety & Vinification
An unusual blend of 60% Pinot Meunier, 30% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay from the vintages 2021 and 2022. Spontaneous fermentation, maturation in a fuder for one quarter, in stainless steel tank for three quarters. Malolactic fermentation was not controlled. Disgorged in October 2024 with minimal dosage of just 4.5 g/l – an authentic Extra Brut.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Excellent with raw fish, oysters, scallops or sushi. Also an excellent choice with goat’s cheese, roasted poultry or sweetbreads. The salinity makes it the ideal aperitif.
Special Features
An authentic grower Champagne that bears the hallmark of Jeaunaux-Robin: minimal intervention, high Meunier content and a mineral precision that expresses the terroir unfiltered.
