Wine Description for Beaune „Les Associés“ rouge AOC 2022 by Henri & Gilles Buisson
- Colour & Appearance
- Medium, slightly transparent carmine red in the glass – a classic sight for elegant Pinot Noir from Burgundy, which already visually hints at the wine’s finesse.
- Nose
- The bouquet presents itself enchantingly floral with notes of iris and delicate lilac. These are joined by raspberries and wild strawberries, underpinned by subtle spice with yeast notes, a hint of peat and fine wood spice. With a little air, additional nuances of sour cherries unfold – a multi-layered, inviting aromatic profile.
- Palate
- On the palate, the Les Associés reveals its true class: impressively fine and elegant, delightfully fresh and juicy. The floral components continue, accompanied by clear red fruit and a fascinating dark, almost earthy note, reminiscent of peat and the more robust wines from Pommard. The tannin structure is perfectly integrated, the acidity lively and precise – everything comes together into a harmonious, positively sensual village wine.
- Finish
- The aftertaste is persistent and elegant, with lingering fruit notes and a fine mineral component that invites the next sip.
- Terroir & Origin
- The grapes come three-quarters from the vineyard site Longbois and one-quarter from Prevolles in Beaune. The approximately 50-year-old vines are rooted at 230 to 330 metres altitude on deep brown limestone and alluvial soils – ideal conditions for complex, terroir-driven Pinot Noir.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- Pinot Noir, hand-harvested and partially destemmed. Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tank with a combination of pigeage and remontage, followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Ageing took place over ten to twelve months in a blend of barriques of various sizes (228 to 500 litres), of which a maximum of 10% are new. Minimal sulphiting at bottling (40-50 mg/l total SO₂), light fining and coarse filtration. The estate is Biodyvin-certified.
- Food Pairing Suggestions
- Excellent with pulled pork burritos, pumpkin risotto with cinnamon or Kung Pao chicken. The wine’s elegance and freshness also harmonises beautifully with grilled salmon, mushroom dishes or mature Comté.
- Special Features
- A beautiful village wine from biodynamic viticulture, demonstrating that great Burgundies don’t always have to be Premier Cru. The work of the Buisson family under Frédéric Buisson’s direction combines traditional craftsmanship with natural winemaking and delivers an authentic, terroir-true Beaune of remarkable finesse.
