  • Foradori Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2024 – the entry point into Elisabetta Foradori’s biodynamic Teroldego universe: a dark red wine from the Campo Rotaliano in Trentino, shaped by violets and mountain minerality.
  • 🎨 Colour: Dense, deep ruby red with violet reflections.
  • 👃 Aroma: Violets, wild blackberries and dark cherries, underpinned by fine notes of wet slate and a hint of mountain herbs.
  • 👅 Taste: Juicy and dense, with soft tannins, dark berry fruit and an almost saline minerality that brings the cool mountain air of the Dolomites into the glass.
  • 🎭 Character: Lively and distinctive – a red wine with freshness and depth in equal measure, making the contrast between sun-warmed days and cool nights of its origin palpable.
  • 🍽️ Food recommendation: With grilled lamb, Speckknödel (bacon dumplings) with mountain cheese or a game dish with a dark sauce.
  • ✨ Special features: Sourced from Demeter-certified vines on the geologically unique Campo Rotaliano, where the river Noce has deposited limestone, porphyry and gneiss from the Dolomites over millennia; Foradori is regarded as the saviour of the almost forgotten Teroldego grape variety, aged in Spanish clay amphorae (tinajas) rather than wooden casks.

Wine description for Foradori Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2024 by Foradori

Character
This Teroldego appears youthful, deeply dark and vital. Violets and wild blackberries meet wet slate and an almost saline minerality – a red wine that audibly carries its Dolomite origins into the glass. Dry and straightforward, with fresh acidity and fine-grained tannins that make it accessible without trivialising it.
Terroir & Origin
The Campo Rotaliano in Trentino is a geological curiosity: a valley plain wedged between three-thousand-metre peaks, where over millennia the River Noce has deposited limestone, porphyry and gneiss from the mountains. By day the rock faces reflect the sun, by night cool mountain air flows through the valley – this alternation of warmth and freshness shapes the tension of the wines. Across the estate’s almost 30 hectares, Teroldego takes centre stage; the winery is Demeter-certified.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Teroldego, once so significant that it was served at the Council of Trent, nearly disappeared in the twentieth century. From 1984 onwards, Elisabetta Foradori brought the variety back through years of clonal selection – today she is regarded as its saviour. The ageing takes place in Spanish clay amphorae (tinajas), because wood would overpower the Teroldego: in clay the fruit remains clear, the texture becomes supple, and a hint of ancient winemaking resonates. Since 2013, her son Emilio has run the cellar with great precision.
Food Pairings
The dark fruit and mineral drive call for simple, honest cooking: canederli, polenta with mushrooms, grilled lamb chops or a piece of pungent mountain cheese – ideally from the estate’s own breed, the Tyrolean Grey cattle. It also feels at home with pasta with game ragù or a rustic bean stew. A wine for the table, not for the display cabinet.
