Wine Description for Eichhorn DOC 2024 by Manincor

Character
The Eichhorn DOC embodies the precise elegance of South Tyrolean Pinot Blanc in its purest form. Manincor, one of the most renowned estates on Lake Kaltern, combines alpine freshness with Mediterranean ripeness to create a wine of remarkable clarity and drinkability. The 2024 vintage benefits from cool nights and sunny days, which lend the variety that tension between substance and vibrancy for which South Tyrol is celebrated worldwide.
Terroir & Origin
The Manincor estate manages its vineyard sites between Kaltern and Lake Montiggl on calcareous soils of volcanic origin. This geological peculiarity, combined with the elevation between 250 and 500 metres, creates ideal conditions for aromatically complex white wines. The Ora del Garda, the thermal wind from the nearby Lake Garda, ensures natural ventilation of the vines and contributes to phenolic ripeness, whilst the Dolomites to the north guarantee cool air currents.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pinot Blanc, called Weißburgunder in South Tyrol, finds here perhaps its most authentic terroir outside Burgundy. Manincor practises a reductive winemaking approach that emphasises the variety’s characteristic minerality. The house philosophy is guided by biodynamic principles and minimal intervention in the cellar. The moderate alcohol content of 13% and the dry style underline the ambition to create wines of place and vintage that communicate their origin unmistakably.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A classic companion to South Tyrolean cuisine: excellent with asparagus with Bozen sauce, trout meunière or veal topside. The mineral structure harmonises perfectly with goat’s cheese, scallops and herb risotto. Also an exciting choice with Asian cuisine of moderate spice.
