Tasting note
Character
A white wine of refreshing lightness: just 10.5% alcohol, dry and full of energy. Clemens Krutzler knows how to craft a wine of precision and vitality from a grape variety that is often underestimated. Green apple, citrus and a fine herbal streak shape the picture — clear, straightforward and remarkably moreish.
Terroir & Origin
The estate’s 12 hectares lie around Eisenberg in southern Burgenland, whose iron-rich soils lend the wines a mineral edge. The Pannonian climate ensures ripe aromatics under full sun, while cool winds from eastern Styria keep the acidity fresh at night — a natural temperature regulator to which this Welschriesling owes its tension.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Welschriesling is an old Burgenland stalwart that has been at home here for generations. Krutzler vinifies according to a low-intervention philosophy with natural yeasts; the estate has been sustainability-certified since 2020 and is now also organic-certified. With this, the fifth generation complements his father Reinhold’s classic portfolio with his own light-footed line.
Food Pairings
The ideal everyday wine for summer: with asparagus and hollandaise sauce, a crisp salad with apple and celery or grilled trout fillets. Also a fine choice with sushi and lightly spiced Asian dishes — or simply in the evening, ice-cold, with a Kaspressknödel on the terrace.
