Wine Description for Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC 2024 by Cirelli

Colour & Appearance
Pale, transparent cherry red in the glass – luminous and clear, with the characteristic brilliance of a classic Cerasuolo.
Nose
Vibrant and unmasked, this Cerasuolo presents itself with a bouquet of red fruits: redcurrants, cherries and delicate raspberries meet floral notes of mallow and hibiscus. A fine stone fruit character lends additional depth and complexity to the aromatics – direct, clear, playful.
Palate
Here the wine reveals its serious side: despite the fruity playfulness, it displays a phenolic dry bite that frames the juicy fruit firmly. Medium-bodied, it balances with stimulating tannins and ripe acidity independently along that narrow line between rosé and red wine – a red-fruited transparent structure with character and self-assurance.
Finish
Fresh and lively, with lingering fruit and fine herbal spice that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The Montepulciano vines thrive on lean loamy limestone soils in Abruzzo – a terroir that brings tension and minerality to the wine.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Montepulciano, hand-harvested and carefully processed. After gentle crushing, a short maceration in stainless steel tanks precedes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts – purist, authentic, unmanipulated.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A versatile companion: perfect with grilled fish, vitello tonnato, pasta with tomato sauce, Pizza Margherita or antipasti misti. Also an excellent choice with light poultry dishes and goat’s cheese.
Special Features
Francesco Cirelli’s Cerasuolo is a prime example of the renaissance of this traditional Abruzzese wine speciality – a wine that demonstrates Cerasuolo is far more than just a robust rosé. At only 12% alcohol, it’s a light-footed yet by no means lightweight pleasure for every day.
