Trapet Père & Fils, one of the most renowned biodynamically managed estates in Gevrey-Chambertin, pursues a deliberately reduced, artisanal approach with this cuvée: minimal intervention, maximum expression. The result is a light-footed, vibrant red wine that prioritises pleasure and accessibility over weight – a wine that drinks without demanding, yet still reveals its provenance and conviction.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes hail from Burgundy, a region where even the simplest bottle carries the spirit of one of the world’s most significant wine regions. Trapet has been managing its vineyards according to biodynamic principles for years, which is reflected in a palpable vitality and connection to the soil in the wines. The 2023 vintage brought warm, dry conditions to Burgundy, resulting in ripe fruit and pleasant structure – with careful hand-harvesting, a vintage with genuine potential.
Grape Variety & Vinification
The blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay deliberately echoes the spirit of the classic Passe-Tout-Grains – a time-honoured Burgundian combination experiencing a small renaissance today. Whilst Pinot Noir contributes elegance and depth, Gamay brings freshness, juiciness and a certain carefree quality. Vinification follows the house philosophy: minimal intervention, respect for the fruit and the soil. At 13.0% Vol., the wine remains pleasantly lean and easy to drink.
Food Pairing Suggestions
An ideal companion for uncomplicated table enjoyment. Excellent with charcuterie and country terrines, grilled chicken or lamb chops.
