Info about the wine:
Cuvée of 80% Zibibbo and 20% Grecanico
The Zibibbo comes from the sandy soils of Marsala and partly from the Zibibbo vineyards, which are characterized by red rock. The Grecanico comes from Vittoria and grows on sand, clay and limestone. The average age of the vines is 12 years.
Vinification on the skins in amphorae and another 2-3 months in cement tanks. It is bottled before the next harvest and only lightly filtered. Sulphur is added only at bottling, the white wines have a total SO2 content of 29 mg.
The 2016 Zibibbo in Pithos shows itself as an intense elixir of a white wine, this is already noticeable in the nose. Fresh vineyard peach mingles with apple jelly, stewed quince, white fragrant flowers such as yarrow, lime blossom and broom and the infusion of verveine tea. Distinct notes of sage and ethereal hints of eucalyptus further enhance its complex appearance.
Spicy and stimulating, the 2016 Zibibbo presents itself in Pithos on the tongue, the fresh herbal notes of the nose appear here even more strongly. You get the impression to bite on a ripe peach, fine fruit sweetness is accompanied by delicate tart influences. This interplay makes it a wonderfully exotic and at the same time meditative drop.
