Terroir & origin

Crafted in Lower Austria’s Waldviertel, a region steeped in centuries of glassmaking tradition. It was here, amidst these tranquil forests, that the Zalto glass revolution began, borne of six generations of the Zalto family’s glassblowing artistry and the vision of wine merchant Hans Denk.

Grape variety & vinification

The form of the Balance glass is based on the Earth’s axial tilt – 24, 48 and 72 degrees. This geometry facilitates optimal movement of the wine within the bowl. It has been specially conceived for wines that derive their balance and structure from phenolics, tannins, extended lees ageing or deliberate oak influence.

Food recommendations

Ideal for structured wines that call for equally robust dishes. Think braised leg of lamb, mature hard cheese or game dishes with richly spiced sauces. Also an excellent choice alongside beef fillet or duck breast.

Special features

Each glass is individually mouth-blown, hand-inspected and signed. Despite a wall thickness of barely half a millimetre, it is remarkably resilient and dishwasher-safe. A masterpiece that allows the complexity of great wines to be expressed to perfection.
