Zalto
The Zalto Denk'Art collection epitomises the absolute pinnacle of the glassmaker's art. These wafer-thin, mouth-blown glasses have revolutionised the world of wine and are appreciated by the most discerning sommeliers and wine lovers worldwide. Their unique aesthetics are based on the tilt angles of the earth, which are reflected in the precise geometry of the glass shapes. Each glass is a masterpiece that perfectly emphasises the complexity and nuances of the finest wines.
More about Zalto
The exceptional lightness and precision of the Zalto glasses enable a top-class wine experience, allowing even the finest flavours to fully unfold. Despite their delicate appearance, the glasses are astonishingly robust and dishwasher-safe - a triumph of Austrian craftsmanship and modern design.
The story of a revolution
In the quiet forests of the Lower Austrian Waldviertel, where the art of glassmaking has been at home for centuries, a small revolution began around two decades ago. The Zalto family, whose glassblowing tradition stretches back six generations, took a bold step together with wine merchant Hans Denk: they developed wine glasses that challenged all previous conventions. The result was the Denk'Art series - glasses of such precision and elegance that they quickly became the talk of the international wine scene.
Technical perfection meets artistic vision
The true innovation of Zalto glasses lies in their sophisticated geometry. The angles of inclination of the glass walls correspond exactly to 24, 48 and 72 degrees - the angles of inclination of the earth. This precise alignment is not only aesthetically impressive, but also has a functional purpose: it enables optimum movement of the wine in the glass and thus perfect development of the flavours. The mouth-blown crystal glass is exceptionally thin, with a wall thickness of only around half a millimetre, yet is surprisingly robust and dishwasher-safe.
The flavour experience
The true magic of a Zalto glass is revealed at the moment of savouring the wine. The wafer-thin glass wall seems to dissolve, creating an immediate connection between wine and connoisseur. Even the most complex wines are surprisingly precise and multi-faceted. The Burgundy glasses, for example, open at a perfectly calculated angle, allowing the multi-layered aromas of a great Pinot Noir or Chardonnay to rise as if in a spiral of flavours. The slimmer shape of the Bordeaux glass, on the other hand, results in a more concentrated presentation of the often more masculine Cabernet and Merlot-based wines.
More than just a glass
Zalto glasses are more than just tools for enjoying wine - they are statements of a wine philosophy. They embody the idea that great wine deserves the best possible presentation. Their uncompromising quality and precision reflect the respect for the winemaker's craft. Each glass is individually mouth-blown, checked and signed by hand. This elaborate production explains the high price, but also makes each glass a unique work of art. In the world of top gastronomy and among passionate wine lovers, Zalto glasses have long since established themselves as the standard - not as a status symbol, but as an essential instrument for perfect wine enjoyment.
