The story of a revolution

In the quiet forests of Lower Austria's Waldviertel, where the art of glassmaking has been at home for centuries, a small revolution began some two decades ago. The Zalto family, whose glassblowing tradition spans six generations, took a bold step together with the wine merchant Hans Denk: they developed wine glasses that challenged every convention. Technical perfection meets artistic vision

The real innovation of Zalto glasses lies in their carefully considered geometry. The angles of the glass walls correspond exactly to 24, 48 and 72 degrees, the tilt angles of the Earth. This precise alignment is not only aesthetically striking but also serves a function: it allows the wine to move ideally in the glass and so lets the aromas unfold perfectly. The mouth-blown crystal glass is exceptionally thin, with walls only about half a millimetre thick, yet astonishingly robust and dishwasher-safe.
