Wine details
The noble wine of our tasting is rooted in the nutrient-rich clay-limestone marl soils. After a spontaneous fermentation, it matured for five remarkable years in wooden barrels before being bottled unfiltered.
Colour scheme
With its deep, dark garnet red colour full of shiny violet reflections, the 2015 Zweigelt immediately attracts attention.
Fragrances
The nose is flooded with the wonderful scent of dark berries, from blackberry to elderberry, blueberry and dark cherries as well as ripe plums. Floral accents recall elderflower, boxwood, blackcurrant leaves and ivy. A robust blend of dark earth, wood smoke, cocoa and leather adds depth and highlights its complex and layered character.
Taste experience
On the palate, it dominates with juiciness, fine and well-balanced tannins and mineral facets. Its refreshing acidity underlines the invigorating and playful character, which is further enhanced by a moderate alcohol content of 12.5 Vol%. This Zweigelt presents itself at the perfect drinking maturity and is looking forward to being served with fine and aromatic dishes.
Possible food accompaniments
Possible gastronomic partners could be beetroot salad on creamy mozzarella with thyme, virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. A crispy sea bass on a sesame crust accompanied by juicy lentils and a fine red wine sauce. Or a juicy duck breast with cinnamon cherries, accompanied by glazed coloured carrots and creamy polenta.
