Muscat Ottonel
Muskat Ottonel is considered the subtle aesthete among the members of the great Muscat family. Bred in France in the 19th century, the variety has found a permanent home particularly in the Pannonian region, where it captivates with its delicate, floral spice. In contrast to its often loud-natured relatives, it presents itself pleasantly reserved in the glass, characterised by notes of fresh meadow herbs, nutmeg, and ripe stone fruit, supported by a mild acid structure. This subtle aromatic profile makes it a wonderful partner for multi-layered cuvées, to which it lends lightness and an animating perfume.
How harmoniously this quality translates into an easy-drinking pleasure is demonstrated by the white cuvée from Heinrich. Here, Muskat Ottonel combines with Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc to form a fine alliance that balances freshness and structure. At the table, the grape variety pairs outstandingly with Asian cuisine or summery salads with fresh herbs.
