Lambrusco

Lambrusco is a highly branched, ancient family of red grape varieties deeply rooted in the hilly landscape of Emilia-Romagna. An artisanally crafted Lambrusco captivates in the glass with its vital energy, carried by an animating acidity, subtly bitter tannins, and a finely sparkling perlage. With aromas of crisp sour cherries, dark berries, and delicate herbs, it is the natural companion to air-dried ham or rich ragùs.

Just how multifaceted this tradition can taste is demonstrated by the Cinque Campi estate. Alongside the finely sparkling ‘Fuorleggero Rosato Frizzante’, they press the classic ‘CinqueCampi Rosso Frizzante’ as a blend with Malbo Gentile and Marzemino. A rare speciality is the ‘Rio degli Sgoccioli’, a complex sparkling wine made from the almost forgotten Lambrusco Barghi variety, which reveals the immense depth of this historic grape.
