Lambrusco
Lambrusco is not a single grape variety, but a family of over 60 varieties – Lambrusco di Sorbara, Lambrusco Grasparossa, Lambrusco Salamino, each with its own character. What unites them: the sparkling, mostly frizzante vinification and their origin in Emilia-Romagna. The reputation is ambivalent – in the 1980s, Lambrusco became a symbol of industrial mass-produced wine; today, a new generation is working to showcase the complexity of these grape varieties.
The winemakers at Cinque Campi vinify their Lambrusco wines with minimal filtration, often with extended maceration – the result is dark, tannic sparkling wines that have little in common with the sweetish supermarket versions.
