Wine description for Fuorleggero Rosato Frizzante Emilia Lambrusco IGT 2022 by Cinque Campi

Colour & Appearance
Intense, dark strawberry red with brownish reflections, reminiscent more of a light red wine than a classic rosato. A lively mousseux reveals itself when pouring – a promising opening for this unconventional Lambrusco.
Nose
Here the true personality of this wine unfolds: it breaks radically with the expectation of fruit-driven sparkling wines. Instead of berry bombs, herbal spice and spices dominate the aromatic profile. Subtle notes of sour cherry and strawberry take a back seat to a fascinating melange of fennel seed, coriander, white pepper and juniper. Marjoram, sage and thyme lend a Mediterranean herbal note, whilst green walnuts and pistachio play subtly in the background.
Palate
The name says it all: „Fuorleggero“ – extraordinarily light. With dancer-like elegance, this frizzante glides across the tongue without ever seeming banal. The fruit remains lean and restrained, yet the spicy and balsamic components unfold impressive presence. The fine mousseux provides smoothness and balance, whilst a gripping acidity structure builds tension. Remarkable is the aroma of roasted hazelnuts and walnuts, which lend unexpected depth to the wine.
Finish
Medium length with distinct nutty aromas that linger persistently on the palate. The spicy herbal notes fade gently – a wine that invites contemplation.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Lambrusco from Emilia-Romagna, vinified as a frizzante with moderate alcohol content of 12.5% vol. Cinque Campi interprets the traditional grape variety radically anew, focusing on spice rather than obvious fruit.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Its spicy personality makes it ideal for South Tyrolean sausage specialities with crisp bread, risotto with wild mushrooms and Pecorino or lamb’s lettuce with raspberry vinegar dressing and chopped walnuts. Also an excellent choice with antipasti featuring olives and herbs.
Special Features
A Lambrusco for the experienced palate, one that breaks with conventions and proves that this grape variety can do far more than sweet party drinks. Those with a taste for spice will be rewarded.
