Grolleau

Also known as: Groslot (Loire)

Grolleau is one of the Loire’s underrated red grape varieties – light, fresh and with an acidity reminiscent of cranberries. In the region it’s often used for rosé, but some winemakers demonstrate that it can also convince as a red wine: cool, direct, without false ambition. It needs no time in the cellar, no complexity – it’s simply there, drinkable, unpretentious.

Claude de Nell shows what the variety is capable of: red berry fruit, vibrant acidity, a wine that needs no occasion. That’s precisely what defines Grolleau – it’s not made for grand moments, but for everyday life, for the second bottle, for what comes after work.
