Grolleau

The Grolleau grape variety is deeply rooted in the Loire Valley. Its name, derived from the French word for crow, refers to the almost black grapes, which nevertheless produce surprisingly light, juicy wines. Grolleau captivates with an animating acidity, fine peppery notes and a transparent, red-berried fruit that gets by entirely without heavy tannins. It is a masterpiece of freshness that pairs outstandingly with light summer cuisine, fine charcuterie or simply on its own.

From very old vines, the Claude de Nell estate crafts a profound, velvety red wine that reveals the variety’s enormous expressive power far beyond the ordinary. In the sparkling segment, Grolleau contributes its carefree juiciness, as seen in the balanced Crémant Rosé by Liv Vincendeau, where it works alongside Cabernet Franc to ensure lively elegance in the glass.
