yellow Traminer

Gelber Traminer is one of Europe’s oldest cultivated grape varieties, captivating with an aromatic profile that blends floral playfulness with ethereal spice. While its relative, Gewürztraminer, often presents itself in a baroque manner, Gelber Traminer retains a pleasantly austere freshness reminiscent of rose water, muscat, and ripe citrus fruits. Fermented on the grape skins, the expressive fruit transforms into a profound, structured phenolic character.

Just how vibrantly this variety can be interpreted is demonstrated in Burgenland by Heinrich, where the pure Gelber Traminer in the “Sa va” shows an invigorating, finely structured juiciness with delicate herbal notes. In Vienna, meanwhile, Hajszan Neumann harnesses the power of skin-contact fermentation: their “Natural Traminer” brings Gelber and Roter Traminer together, demonstrating how magnificently the variety harmonises as a structured orange wine with ripe grip and deep spice.
