In the glass

  1. Colour

    Slightly hazy pink-grapefruit rosé.

  2. Nose

Compact and aromatic with wild raspberries, wild strawberries and rosehip, alongside tea leaves and white pepper – with air, the aromatics become even more multifaceted.

  3. Palate

Red berry fruit, lively acidity and a gripping saline length at a light, buoyant 10.5% vol.

  4. Character

Lively, cool and uncomplicated – a rosé with depth that lacks nothing despite its lightness; decanting is well worth it.

  5. Pairing

Aromatic spring and summer cuisine such as vegetable salads with goat’s cheese, grilled asparagus or Mediterranean antipasti – equally enjoyable on its own.

  6. Notes

Hand-harvested from old Lemberger vines on blue Muschelkalk limestone in the steep slopes of Roßwag, hand-bottled by the Demeter-certified biodynamic estate of the couple Samara & Hoffmann.

Tasting note

Colour & appearance
Slightly hazy, with a shimmer of pink grapefruit — a rosé that does not hide behind filtered clarity and reveals its impetuous, lively nature right in the glass.
Nose
Compact and aromatic: wild raspberries, wild strawberries, along with rosehip, tea leaves and a hint of white pepper. A little air in the glass or in a carafe opens the bouquet even further, revealing an impressive wealth of facets.
Palate
Red berry fruit meets invigorating, cool acidity and a gripping salty length — all at a buoyant 10.5% vol.. A wine with drive and energy that leaves nothing to be desired and conveys astonishing depth through its lightness.
Finish
Clean, salty and long — with a finish that is more reminiscent of a cool, mineral white wine than of a lush rosé.
Terroir & origin
From the steep slopes of Roßwag in Württemberg, where blue Muschelkalk forms a geological gem — soil one would rather expect in the French Jura. Old dry-stone walls, terraced slopes and cool nights ensure tension and fresh acidity levels.
Grape variety & vinification
Pure Lemberger (Blaufränkisch), hand-harvested — as the couple puts it: “crushed and bottled”. Olympia Samara and Hannes Hoffmann, who met at Geisenheim University, have been cultivating their 3.5 hectares according to biodynamic principles since founding the estate in 2014 and have been Demeter-certified since 2018. They do without soil cultivation and heavy machinery; wild herbs bloom in every second vine row.
Food recommendations
A pleasure on its own — and a boon for aromatic spring and summer cuisine: grilled vegetables with herbs, salad with goat’s cheese and strawberries, lemon chicken, tomato burrata or simply fresh sardine delicacies on a balmy evening.
Special features
That a red Württemberg grape variety such as Lemberger can produce a rosé of such cool clarity and salty tension is anything but a given. Rosafaden shows how serious rosé can be without losing its carefree charm — an estate that combines biodynamic consistency with stylistic assurance.
