Wine Description for Rosé 2024 by Clemens Krutzler

Colour & Appearance
Transparent cherry red, brilliantly clear and of impressive luminosity in the glass.
Nose
Spotlessly clean and sparkling, this Blaufränkisch rosé presents aromas of redcurrant and sour cherry. Floral nuances of hibiscus and mallow lend it elegance, whilst a cool, stony note of wet river pebbles provides mineral freshness.
Palate
Taut and well-defined on the attack – this rosé has backbone. The firm red fruits are precisely mirrored on the palate, whilst fine tannins give the wine clear definition. With delicate grip and a saline backbone, this is a serious, straightforward rosé for adults – unreservedly joyful and formidably refreshing.
Finish
Clearly drawn with persistent freshness and mineral precision.
Terroir & Origin
From the Eisenberg in Deutsch Schützen, from the Ried Ratschen vineyard site. The iron-rich, sandy-loamy soil imparts this rosé with its characteristic grip and spicy minerality – typical of this distinctive location on the South Burgenland Eisenberg.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Blaufränkisch, harvested on 6 September 2024. Following brief skin contact, spontaneous fermentation took place in a 1,000-litre wooden barrel. Malolactic fermentation also occurred in the barrel, followed by eight months of ageing on full lees – a vinification that lends this rosé structure, depth and complexity.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A versatile companion to grilled tuna, Vitello Tonnato, salmon tartare or sushi. Excellent also with goat’s cheese, tomato and mozzarella salad and antipasti. The structure also allows for light meat dishes such as veal schnitzel or chicken.
Special Characteristics
Clemens Krutzler represents the new generation at this traditional family winery. His rosé is no afterthought wine, but a seriously vinified, terroir-driven Blaufränkisch rosé with character and personality – a counterpoint to arbitrary summer wines.
