Tasting note
Colour & Appearance
Medium to deep purple-red – vibrant and clear in the glass, without any cloudiness, despite the absence of filtration.
Nose
The nose is classical yet vibrant: violet and juniper open the play, followed by a dense fruit basket of blackberries, mulberries and plums, underpinned by a hint of sour cherry and blackcurrant. Mineral notes of tar, lemon zest, damp stone and undergrowth join in – dark, crisp and remarkably precise.
Palate
On the palate, the K-or reveals its most open, most elegant side. The fruit remains cool and taut – ripe, but never heavy. Juicy, with pleasantly mouth-watering acidity and a light saline finish that underscores the minerality. The tannin is gripping, but by no means rough – it gives the wine structure and bite without dominating.
Finish
Long, energetic and carried by lively minerality. The absence of added sulphur grants the wine a remarkable openness and freshness that lingers long after.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from micro-parcels at 350 metres altitude in Clos Troteligotte in Cahors. The soil combines clay-limestone with iron-rich siderolithic limestone from the Tertiary period, as well as fossil-rich Kimmeridgian limestone from the Jurassic – a geological complexity that is directly reflected in the glass.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Malbec (100 %) with moderate yields of 45 hl/ha. Following hand-harvesting and destemming, spontaneous fermentation, gentle extraction and extended maceration – all without sulphur addition. Aged in concrete vats, unfined and unfiltered. A natural wine of artisanal conviction.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Ideal with braised lamb shoulder, grilled entrecôte or a hearty cassoulet. Also a seductive pairing with aged goat’s cheese from Quercy.
Special Features
A sulphur-free Cahors Malbec with genuine character – no compromise, but a statement of intent. Already a pleasure to drink now, yet possesses the substance for cellaring.
