Tasting note
- Character
- The K-bo is a wine that deliberately breaks the mould – and that is precisely what makes it so appealing. Classified as a Vin de France, it allows Clos Troteligotte the freedom to work beyond the strict appellation regulations of Cahors and to compose an idiosyncratic, playful blend. The name itself is a statement of intent: unconventional, direct, with a wink and a nod.
- Terroir & Origin
- Clos Troteligotte is rooted in the Lot Valley near Cahors, a region renowned for its Causses – the characteristic limestone plateaus. The rugged climate shaped by continental influences and the mineral-rich soils give the estate’s wines a distinctive tension and depth. Although the K-bo carries the Vin de France classification, it nonetheless reflects the unmistakable spirit of this south-western French landscape.
- Grape Varieties & Vinification
- The unusual blend of Gamay, Jurançon noir and Gibert – an old, regional rarity – bears witness to the estate’s philosophy: curiosity, respect for heritage varieties and artisanal commitment. The Gamay brings freshness and vibrancy, the Jurançon noir rustic spice and structure, whilst Gibert as a local specialty lends the cuvée an authentically regional character. Clos Troteligotte’s vinification style is guided by natural, minimally interventionist methods that allow the terroir to speak.
- Food Pairing Suggestions
- This lively, accessible wine is an ideal companion for unpretentious, hearty cuisine. It harmonises beautifully with charcuterie and rillettes du Sud-Ouest, pairs equally well with grilled lamb or a rustic cassoulet. Served lightly chilled, it unfolds with particular freshness and is excellent as a summer wine alongside tomato tarts or a simple picnic outdoors.
