Wine Description for Moscato Giallo DOC 2024 by Manincor
- Colour & Appearance
- Sparkling, pale yellow with vibrant green reflections – a wine that announces its freshness and youthfulness right from the glass.
- Nose
- Seductive and immediate: The nose opens with an expressive bouquet of muscat blossom, floral honey and lily of the valley. Pale yellow fruits form the foundation, whilst citrus notes of lime, grapefruit and a hint of ginger provide refreshing vibrancy. Aromatically complex, yet never overwhelming.
- Palate
- Juicy and creamy at once – the wine glides across the palate with remarkable elegance. Yellow fruit and a delicate, well-integrated fruity sweetness meet a fine tannin structure that lends the wine a peppery, invigorating character. Despite all its richness, it remains light-footed and precise.
- Finish
- Long-lasting, with fresh citrus notes and floral aftertaste. The acidity maintains the balance and ensures a clean, stimulating conclusion.
- Terroir & Origin
- The grapes come from the Mareit Leiten at 350 metres above sea level – a steep, south-facing slope with extreme sun exposure and warm scree soils with moraine deposits. Complemented by parcels in Vogelleiten and Panholzer on loamy limestone scree. A terroir that unites warmth, minerality and aromatic intensity.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- The Goldmuskateller – known in South Tyrol as Moscato Giallo – shows its noblest side here. Following a twelve-hour maceration in the press to extract aroma and structure, fermentation took place predominantly spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, partly in wooden cask, partly in steel tank. Five months of ageing on the fine lees impart depth and creamy texture to the wine.
- Food Pairing Suggestions
- An ideal companion to aromatic Asian cuisine, Thai curry or Indian spiced dishes. Equally convincing with grilled vegetables with herbs, goat’s cheese or a asparagus salad with lemon vinaigrette. As an aperitif, simply irresistible.
- Special Features
- Manincor’s Moscato Giallo ranks among the most convincing interpretations of this grape variety in South Tyrol. The combination of spontaneous fermentation, lees contact and precise vineyard work elevates this wine well above the ordinary – a Goldmuskateller with genuine character and depth.
