Wine Description for Muskateller with ACHTUNG 2022 by Loimer
- Colour & Appearance
- Luminous golden yellow with delicate, natural cloudiness – a sign of unfiltered, artisanal winemaking. Light suspended particles bear witness to the authenticity of this wine.
- Nose
- An aromatic fireworks display that is second to none. Initially lemon and grapefruit dominate with their citrus-fresh intensity, before the characteristic muscat character emerges – amplified by rose blossom and lychee. Exotic notes of preserved pineapple and peach practically leap from the glass. The spicy component – white pepper, allspice, clove – lends complexity, whilst lily and acacia soothe. Herbal notes of parsley, chervil and lemon balm provide lightness, a hint of hazelnut sets a distinctive accent.
- Palate
- Surprisingly clear and restrained, the Muskateller presents itself on the palate – not wild, but must-charming with forceful presence. Fine tannins structure the wine without dominating. The fruit now becomes distinctly more local: apple and pear at various stages of ripeness define the flavour profile. A cooling, ethereal freshness emerges, the floral notes become more subtle. The wine feels open and approachable – an uncomplicated pleasure.
- Finish
- The aftertaste is characterised by orange and mandarin peel – herbaceous-fresh and refreshing. At just 10.5% alcohol, it remains featherlight and invigorating.
- Terroir & Origin
- Hailing from the Kamptal, this Muskateller benefits from the cool nights and pannonian climate influence of the region. Fred Loimer is counted among the pioneers of biodynamic viticulture in Austria.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- Made entirely from Gelber Muskateller, bottled unfiltered. The name „with ACHTUNG“ refers to the sprightly, lively character of this wine – a deliberately light-footed, quaffable style.
- Food Pairing Recommendations
- Perfect with Asian cuisine, particularly Thai curries or Vietnamese summer rolls. Also an excellent choice with asparagus dishes, goat’s cheese or fish ceviche. Unbeatable as an aperitif.
- Special Features
- At just 10.5% alcohol, a prime example of the modern movement towards lighter, more elegant wines. The natural vinification with cloudiness underscores Loimer’s philosophy of minimal intervention.
