Wine Description for Instantanée Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut 2018 by Huré Frères

Colour & Appearance
Intense straw yellow with coppery reflections and lively, persistent mousse – the Pinot dominance is already visually apparent in the colour depth of this Blanc de Noirs.
Nose
Elegant and multi-layered, a bouquet of redcurrants, barberries and grapefruit unfolds, underscored by floral notes of gorse and hay. These are joined by buttery hints of shortcrust pastry, mineral stone notes and a touch of lemon zest – a complex aromatic interplay between fruit, minerality and maturity.
Palate
Linear and powerful, this vintage Champagne presents itself with the typical fullness of a Blanc de Noirs. The creamy texture after six years on lees contrasts beautifully with the taut structure and vibrant acidity. Berry and citrus aromas continuously unfold, becoming increasingly chalky and fresher, with impressive length.
Finish
Long, mineral and refreshing with persistent citrus notes and a saline minerality that enlivens the palate and calls for the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from the vineyards of Ludes and Rilly-la-Montagne in the Montagne de Reims, where chalky soils provide the characteristic minerality and freshness.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A cuvée of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier from the 2018 vintage. After six years on lees, the Champagne was disgorged in February 2024, with minimal dosage of just 2.5 grams – a true Extra Brut that emphasises the purity of the terroir.
Food Pairing Suggestions
The structure and intensity harmonise perfectly with half lobster with parsley butter, fish fritters with sauce tartare or a hearty Comté croque monsieur. The creaminess of the Champagne flatters buttery preparations, whilst the acidity balances rich textures.
Special Features
An authentic vintage Champagne that bears the signature of Huré Frères: precise, terroir-focused and with the courage for minimal dosage. The six years on lees provide complexity without masking the youthful freshness.
