Wine Description for Habla la Tierra 2023 by Habla

Colour & Appearance
Deep, rich cherry red with violet reflections – youthful and inviting in the glass.
Nose
Dark and complex, this unusual cuvée presents itself: sloe berries, elderberries and ripe plums meet figs and mocha. These are joined by spicy notes of anise, black pepper and tea. Particularly appealing are the earthy accents of beetroot and olive tapenade, which lend the wine Mediterranean depth. The nose shifts fascinatingly between fruity sweetness and earthy spice.
Palate
Juicy and extract-sweet, the Habla la Tierra 2023 unfolds across the tongue – a sensuous, accessible wine with character. The dark fruit shows ripe and concentrated, the tannin fine-grained and perfectly integrated. A vibrant acidity keeps the wine fresh and prevents any heaviness. The earthy and herbaceous spice notes from the nose continue on the palate, lending the wine complexity beyond simple fruitiness.
Finish
Medium length with lingering spice notes and a pleasantly earthy spice. The fruit fades gently, accompanied by fine tannin.
Terroir & Origin
Extremadura in western Spain remains a hidden gem. The grapes come from young vines (planted around 2000) on characteristic slate soils, which lend the wine its mineral earthiness.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A decidedly bold blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah – and it works. Following cool pre-fermentation, fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, followed by four to five months of maturation in French oak barrels. Moderate 13.5% alcohol.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A versatile companion to grilled lamb chops, beef tapas, chorizo and Manchego. Also an excellent choice with aubergine dishes or a ratatouille.
Special Features
A reliable classic in this price range that impresses year after year. Excellent value for money for a characterful Spanish red wine with personality and edge.
