Terroir & Origin

The grapes come from Vittoria in south-eastern Sicily, one of the island’s oldest wine-growing regions. The limestone-rich, sandy soils of this area lend the wines a natural freshness and mineral tension – remarkable for a climate characterised by intense sunshine and dry heat. The 2021 vintage brought balanced conditions to Sicily with good acidity structure, which particularly benefits wines of this style.

Grape Variety & Vinification

The classic blend of Frappato and Nero d’Avola forms the heart of Cerasuoli di Vittoria. The Frappato brings floral lightness, red fruit and an almost fragile elegance; the Nero d’Avola contributes body, dark fruit and Mediterranean temperament. Arianna Occhipinti, one of Italy’s most important voices in natural winemaking, works with minimal intervention in the cellar – organic viticulture, spontaneous fermentation and careful maturation are in service of expressing place and vintage.

Food Pairing Suggestions

A versatile companion to Sicilian and Mediterranean cuisine. Excellent with Pasta alla Norma, grilled tuna or arancini. Equally convincing with grilled lamb chops, caponata or a simple Pecorino Siciliano. The vibrant acidity and moderate structure also make it a pleasant companion without food – a wine for contemplation.
