Wine Description for Riesling Schlossberg Grand Cru AC 2021 by Domaine Albert Mann

Colour & Appearance
Luminous lemon yellow with bright, greenish reflections – a wine that already reveals its youthful precision and energy in the glass.
Nose
Subtle and captivating in equal measure. The Schlossberg displays remarkable aromatic complexity: yellow apple, freshly cut Conference pear and white peach form the foundation. Lemon and grapefruit provide freshness without dominating. These are joined by kaffir lime leaves and bergamot. The ethereal spice is impressive: roasted fennel seed, coriander, anise and artichoke meld with an intense herbal note of mint, nettle, chervil and abundant parsley. A hint of white pepper sets a distinctive accent.
Palate
Precisely crafted and slender – this Riesling is currently a concentrate of tension and minerality. The herbal spice dominates the palate, almost mentholated, but never obtrusive. The fruit currently takes a step back, but will gain presence with bottle age. The texture is taut, the acidity of 7.7 g/l with 0 g/l residual sugar perfectly integrated. Enormous length that oscillates between acidity, bitterness and extract – a harmonious field of tension.
Finish
Long and characterised by citrus aromas. The aftertaste elegantly wavers between mineral precision and herbal freshness – a finale that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The Schlossberg in Kientzheim, classified as Grand Cru since 1975, is a steep, terraced south-facing vineyard site on granite soil. Vines over 35 years old benefit from the minerality and fertility of this unique terroir.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Riesling, fermented and aged in stainless steel, matured on full lees, bottled unfiltered. The 2021 vintage – compared in Alsace to the legendary 1996 – was dry with a damp June, brought little sugar but wonderful acidity structures and intense fruit.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Grilled sea bream with roasted fennel and orange sauce, tomato salad with lime-cardamom yoghurt, roasted parsnip with mint and yoghurt – all dishes that echo the herbal spice and citrus freshness of the wine.
Special Features
A bone-dry Grand Cru Riesling (13.5% vol., 0 g/l RS) with enormous ageing potential. Currently still youthfully reserved, it will gain in complexity and depth over the coming years.
