The Côte de Nuits-Villages lies at the northern and southern edges of the famous Côte de Nuits and forms, in a sense, its modest, honest foundation. Here, where the great Premiers and Grands Crus end, begins a Burgundy that has retained something of its original sobriety. The calcareous-clayey soils of this appellation give Pinot Noir a clear mineral structure. The vintage 2023 was characterised in Burgundy by warm, dry conditions – a year that produced ripe, accessible wines with natural fullness, without sacrificing the characteristic freshness of the north.
