Wine Description for CMC LOT.1 Conti Marone Cinzano Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 from Col d’Orcia

Colour & Appearance
Dense, luminous garnet red with youthful intensity – a Brunello that already displays its power in the glass.
Nose
Impressively open for a young Brunello: A cascade of sweet cherries, sour cherries and dried cherries unfolds immediately. Beneath this, an elegant floral trio of roses, lavender and violets, complemented by Mediterranean herbs such as sage and mint. Mineral notes of stone, along with blood orange and fine baking spices – complex, yet never overwhelming.
Palate
Here the philosophy of the project reveals itself: juicy, pure and remarkably accessible. The fruit aromas from the nose return with precision. The three-and-a-half years of maturation in neutral Allier barrels has polymerised 45% of the tannins – the result is a silky texture whilst maintaining excellent structure. The crystal-clear acidity of Sangiovese is perfectly integrated, vibrant without dominating. A modern Brunello that places elegance above power.
Finish
Long, fresh and with lingering cherry notes. The fine tannin structure carries far, without ever appearing harsh.
Terroir & Origin
From the top vineyard sites Fontillatro Vecchio in the Canneto vineyard at 230 metres elevation. The vineyard, planted in 1999 on clay-silt-sand with 20% limestone content, benefited in 2019 from abundant winter rainfall, a moderate summer and a sunny September – ideal conditions for phenolic ripeness.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Sangiovese from hand-selected, particularly aromatic grapes. Shorter maceration times and gentle pumping-over preserve the elegance of the variety. 3.5 years of maturation in neutral Allier barrels.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Bistecca alla Fiorentina, Ossobuco, Wild boar ragù, aged Pecorino Toscano or duck breast with cherry sauce.
Special Features
The new prestige project from Santiago Marone Cinzano – a modern interpretation of Brunello that already offers drinking pleasure now, yet can easily age for 15 years. 14.5% Vol.
