Wine profile
Our Brunello di Montalcino has its roots deep in the south-western vineyard slopes of Montalcino. The grapes thrive at 300 to 350 metres above sea level, enjoying panoramic views of the glittering Maremma sea. Nestled in the warmest corner of Montalcino, where the soil is a mixture of sandstone and rocky marl.

Processing
The grapes, lovingly harvested by hand, are destemmed, gently pressed and then fermented with natural yeasts for a fortnight. The wine is refined by a 48-day ageing period in 54 hl French traditional oak barrels and a further 12-month ageing period in the bottle.

Play of colours
The bright ruby red shows shades of mahogany at the rim and invites another look.

Aromatic notes
The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2016 creates an olfactory curiosity with earthy aromas reminiscent of malt, forest leaves, porcini mushrooms, tobacco and tree bark. After a touch of oxygen, fruity notes of raspberry, sour cherry, rosehip and fig unfold, complemented by the scent of fresh Mediterranean herbs. Floral accents of violet and rose petals enhance the feminine effect and merge with aromas of incense and liquorice.

Taste experience
A silky and elegant feeling spreads while the tongue is caressed by a light fruit sweetness that seems almost weightless. The balanced acidity makes every sip irresistible. With 14 vol% alcohol, which at no point predominates, it offers a charming sweet note that harmonises perfectly with Italian comfort food.

Food recommendation
Enjoy it with fusilli pasta studded with broccoli, olives and burrata, topped with a caramelised balsamic onion. Or with a branzino, coated in crispy pancetta, accompanied by bean seeds and a drizzle of olive oil. As a third option, we recommend tagliata, served with a rich red wine sauce and refined spiced rosemary gnocchi.
