Wine Description for Château de Pibarnon Rosé Nuances AOC 2022 by Château de Pibarnon

Colour & Appearance
Luminous salmon pink with copper reflections – distinctly more intense than the typical pale Provence rosés. The colour already reveals the power of the Mourvèdre grape and the terraced vineyard sites.
Nose
Complex and multi-layered: white peaches and apricots meet fresh strawberries and raspberries. Beneath, Mediterranean herbal notes of thyme and rosemary, plus a hint of pink peppercorn and sea breeze. With 14% alcohol, this shows more concentration than lightness.
Palate
Powerful and structured – this is no casual summer wine for quick enjoyment. The Mourvèdre gives this rosé a remarkable tannin structure and depth. Ripe red fruits are carried by vibrant acidity, along with mineral notes that recall the limestone soils of Bandol. Full-bodied, almost vinous.
Finish
Long and spicy with lingering herbal notes and a saline freshness that evokes the nearby Mediterranean. The tannin structure remains present – unusual for a rosé, but typical of Pibarnon.
Terroir & Origin
From the spectacular terraced vineyards of Château de Pibarnon in Bandol, with direct views of the Mediterranean. The limestone soils and maritime climate shape the character of this extraordinary rosé.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Mourvèdre – a rarity for rosé. Eric de Saint Victor manages the estate organically with biodynamic practices. The grape gives this wine the structure and longevity that distinguishes it from ordinary Provence rosés.
Food Pairing Suggestions
This is a rosé for the table: grilled tuna, bouillabaisse, lamb chops with Provençal herbs, spiced tagine or ripe tomatoes with burrata. Also an exciting choice with Asian cuisine featuring heat and spice.
Special Characteristics
A rosé with ageing potential – unusual, but standard practice at Pibarnon. The Mourvèdre dominance makes it one of the most complex and structured rosés of Provence. A wine that demonstrates rosé can be more than summer lightness.
