Gibert

The red grape variety Gibert is one of the almost forgotten treasures of the French South-West. Once native to the basins of the Garonne and Tarn, it brings a wonderfully untamed originality to the glass. It is characterised by a robust nature and an invigorating, juicy acidity, accompanied by notes of wild red forest berries and a fine, herbaceous spice. Gibert lends cuvées a tart freshness, structure, and an enormous drinkability, making it a compelling addition to wines of real character.

Just how harmoniously this rare variety fits in is demonstrated by the rosé “K-bo VdF 2024” from Clos Troteligotte. Here, Gibert joins forces with Gamay and Jurançon to create a luminous ruby-coloured natural wine. It contributes precisely that lively, structuring wildness that makes this wine such an invigorating companion to uncomplicated bistro cuisine.
