Terroir & Origin

Sankt Georgen am Leithagebirge lies on the western shore of the Neusiedlersee, a region commonly known for opulent red wines and noble sweet rarities. Yet the Leithagebirge brings different conditions: calcareous, stony soils with slate and limestone components, continental climate with pronounced day-night temperature fluctuations. This thermal tension is what gives the wine its structure and freshness – and clearly distinguishes it from flatter interpretations of the variety.

Grape Variety & Vinification

The Grüner Veltliner displays a different facet here than the classically peppery lightness of the Weinviertel. Moric vinifies consistently with minimal intervention, relying on spontaneous fermentation and extended ageing – an approach that gives the wine time to articulate its terroir. With 13.0% alcohol and a dry style, the wine remains lean and precise without lacking power. The vintage 2021, characterised in Burgenland by good ripeness with retained acidity, suits this style perfectly.
