Wine description for Sancerre blanc AOC 2025 375ml by Domaine Vacheron

Character
This Sancerre embodies a rare, almost intellectual elegance that stands refreshingly apart from the loud, primary-fruit-driven mainstream Sauvignon Blanc. On the palate, it presents itself as bone-dry, carried by a vibrant energy and a fine, smoky-saline texture. The Vacherons’ signature reveals itself in a Burgundian precision that perfectly balances structure and mineral freshness, lending the wine considerable depth despite its youth.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes hail from the renowned steep vineyard sites of Sancerre on the Loire. As pioneers of biodynamic viticulture in the region, cousins Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent Vacheron have managed their 46 hectares according to strict BIODYVIN guidelines since 2005. The wine benefits from a masterful assemblage of the three typical soil types: the limestone-rich Caillottes soils impart its invigorating freshness, portions of Terres blanches bring complexity and depth, whilst the distinctive Silex vineyard sites (flint) provide the characteristic, subtly smoky minerality.
Grape variety & Vinification
Produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, this wine reflects the domain’s uncompromising, artisanal ethos. Influenced by the cousins’ formative years in Burgundy and the Rhône, each parcel is vinified separately with utmost precision. The gentle, natural approach in the cellar respects the profile of the 2025 vintage and eschews masking effects. The result is a purist, terroir-driven wine of origin – here perfectly presented in the sophisticated half-bottle format (375ml).
Food Pairing Suggestions
A classic, elegant food companion that traditionally pairs beautifully with French goat’s cheese such as the regional Crottin de Chavignol. Its fine acidity structure and saline minerality also make it an ideal partner for fresh oysters, fine seafood or a perfectly grilled fish.
