Wine Description for Pueri Solis VdF 2023 by Luneau-Papin

Colour & Appearance
Intense straw yellow with golden reflections – a wine that announces its maturity and concentration visually from the outset.
Nose
Impressive fruit abundance from the warm vineyard site: ripe quinces, pears and apples meet melons, Cape gooseberries and yellow plums. These are complemented by spicy notes of ginger, the saline freshness of preserved lemon and a fine mineral component reminiscent of stone – complex and multi-layered.
Palate
Juicy and sensual, this Muscadet presents itself with a coating fullness that is rarely found in this appellation. A fine acidity runs elegantly through the creamy white and yellow-fleshed fruit. The subtle ginger spice lends the wine additional vibrancy, whilst the slate provides a mineral tension that perfectly balances the opulent character. A feel-good Muscadet with depth.
Finish
Long and warming with 14% alcohol, perfectly integrated. The fruit fades sustainably, accompanied by a fine saline minerality.
Terroir & Origin
From Melon de Bourgogne vines planted in 1936 from the single vineyard site La Plécisière – Clos des Noëlles in La Chapelle-Heulin. The bedrock of mica schist and slate imparts the wine its characteristic mineral character and complexity.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Melon de Bourgogne. Hand-harvested with careful selection in the vineyard, pneumatic pressing, spontaneous fermentation in underground glass-lined concrete vats. Impressive 32 months of ageing, which lend this Muscadet extraordinary depth and texture.
Food Pairing Recommendations
The fullness and structure of this wine pairs well with robust companions: roasted monkfish, scallops with ginger butter, lobster, mature Comté or goat’s cheese. Also an excellent choice with poultry in cream sauce.
Special Features
A Muscadet that breaks all conventions: old vines, extended ageing and a fullness that demonstrates what this underestimated grape variety is capable of. Pierre-Marie Luneau-Papin impressively proves that Melon de Bourgogne can achieve world-class quality.
