The Roc de la Closerie is located not far from Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. The place is famous because around 1152, the English and French fought over the status of Aquitaine. In the 19th century, a relative of the Amoreau family, the owners of Château Le Puy, acquired the abandoned estate and breathed new life into it. Pascal Amoreau bought the estate in 2013. It comprises 16 hectares of Bordeaux AOP and Côtes de Bordeaux AOP in the municipality of Puisseguin. The vines are on average 35 years old with 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Like Le Puy, the Closerie is also cultivated completely biodynamically. In addition to the classic cuvée from all parts of the vineyards, three parcel wines are produced, partly dominated by Merlot and partly by Cabernet Franc. The wines, which are matured in proportions in amphorae and in barrels, but always in used wood, are characterised by finesse and vitality.
