Terroir & Origin

The vineyards lie in a topographic depression east of the village, where limestone-marl from the Oligocene meets glacial deposits. The soils are rich in minerals and organic matter – those wild tulips that colour the fields in spring give the vineyard its name. The 55-year-old vines in an east-facing position at 230 metres altitude ripen late despite wind protection and yield grapes of remarkable freshness.
