Wine information
K.T.Z.M. is the code for Riesling from Kientzheim. The vines come from the Riquewihr side of the village, from just below the forest at an altitude of 350 metres. The site consists of Triassic marl with fossils and lots of granite. The vines of the 0.5 hectare plot are around 30 years old. The wine was vinified in a concrete egg.
Color
light to medium clear straw yellow
Nose
The nose of the Riesling from Kientzheim is extremely inviting and appetising. It smells of ripe apples, mirabelles, some ivy and lemons along with salt lemon and a little apple peel. The wine appears fresh and clear, fine and elegant.
Palate
On the palate, it resembles its sibling from Beblenheim in its lean, clear, precise style. Only the acidity and minerality of the granite are different. They are less electrifying and glistening at first, but gain more respect second by second. The Riesling proves to be smooth and silky with a calm flow. The fruit remains bright and is accompanied by a very discreet spiciness. This is a delicate but forceful wine.
