Wine description for Crozes Hermitage rouge Beaumont AOP 2023 by Les Bruyères

Colour & Appearance
Intense, youthful ruby red that reflects the freshness of the 2023 vintage.
Nose
A positively seductive wealth of aromas that demonstrates what Syrah from the northern Rhône can achieve: violet pastilles and lavender set the characteristically floral direction, accompanied by a fine smoky note and the spice of air-dried bresaola. This is joined by a basket of dark berries – blackberries, mulberries, plums and blackcurrant – rounded off by elderflower, cinnamon and liquorice. An expressive, complex nose that leaves you wanting more.
Palate
Here the Beaumont shows its best side: juicy, fresh and with a fruit clarity that delights. The vibrant acidity runs through the wine like a thread and keeps it elegant and inviting to drink despite its richness. The tannin is present but fine-grained and restrained – it structures without dominating. Liquorice and a hint of white pepper give the dark fruit the necessary spice and depth. With a moderate 12% alcohol, the wine never feels heavy, but rather refreshing and well-balanced.
Terroir & Origin
The Beaumont comes from parcels in Beaumont-Monteux, where clay-limestone terraces provide ideal conditions for Syrah. Yields are limited to a modest 45 hl/ha, which promotes concentration and expression.
Grape variety & Vinification
100% Syrah, completely destemmed and spontaneously fermented in concrete vessels. The maceration lasts two to three weeks, after which it is pressed vertically with gentle pressure. All cellar work is done by gravity – a sign of artisanal care. The ageing also takes place in concrete, which preserves the fruit clarity and freshness.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A versatile companion to grilled lamb, duck breast, beef steak or game dishes. Also an excellent choice with hard cheeses such as Comté or Tomme de Savoie.
Special Features
A Crozes-Hermitage that prioritises elegance over power – a wine that brings joy and shows that the northern Rhône can be accessible in its youth without sacrificing complexity.
