Tasting note
Color:
Bright golden yellow with pale green reflections
Nose:
A very spicy, distinctive nose awaits you in the glass. The grape variety is clearly recognisable here, albeit much quieter or more atypical than in many examples. Instead, it radiates calm and makes a proud impression. Far removed from fruit and glamour. The wine's great strength lies in its depth. If you take a strong pull on the nose, this vertical style reveals itself enormously. For me, it reveals a very mature dose of herbal freshness. Lemon balm, thyme, sage and mint. White pepper and a little cardamom are also added. Its fruit is subtle, albeit extremely important. Bergamot and kaffir lime stand out. Serious, appealing, honest.
Palate:
And that's exactly how it continues on the palate. A rich appearance, similar to the Austrian national team at the European Championships 2024, with a similar depth as in the nose and a fabulous length on the palate. A fine spiciness surrounds it. Structured and dense without being overpowering. On the contrary. Its structure is rather distorted and vertical. The fruit plays a subordinate role here too, but it has an impressive feel and shines with its energy. It vibrates on the palate and never seems to want to stop.
Food pairing suggestions
- Breaded sole with beurre blanc and creamy turnips
- Ravioli with pumpkin and sage
- Burrata with grilled grapes and basil
