Arianna Occhipinti, one of the most influential figures in Sicilian terroir thinking, consistently transfers her conviction of artisanal integrity and minimal intervention to the olive press as well. The result is an oil of remarkable character strength and authenticity.
Terroir & Origin
The olives come from the Val di Noto in south-eastern Sicily, a landscape characterised by intense sunshine, dry summers and a deeply rooted agricultural heritage. The calcareous, mineral-rich soil of this region lends the olives a distinctive depth. Sicily is not merely wine country – it is also one of Italy’s most significant olive oil regions, and the Occhipinti estate cultivates this heritage with the same seriousness as its winemaking.
Variety & Production
The oil is produced exclusively from the autochthonous variety Nocellara del Belice, one of Sicily’s noblest olive varieties, renowned for its balanced equilibrium between fruitiness, bitterness and peppery notes. Harvesting is done by hand, processing is carried out promptly and gently using the cold-press method to preserve the volatile aromas and the natural vitality of the olive.
