Colour & Appearance

Intense golden yellow that already announces the power and maturity of this Burgenland Chardonnay in the glass.

Nose

A multi-layered aromatic profile of impressive complexity: nutty and smoky notes merge with vanilla from barrel ageing, whilst intense fruit aromas of orange, vineyard peach and citrus fruits shine through. The distinctive minerality – an expression of the unique Seewinkel terroir – lends the bouquet additional depth and tension.

Palate

Juicy, powerful and remarkably vibrant. The crisp acidity forms the backbone of this stunning Chardonnay, perfectly embedded in ripe fruit fullness. A creamy texture rounds out the mouthfeel without masking the vibrant freshness. The 14% alcohol is masterfully integrated and lends the wine structure without heaviness.

Finish

Long, mineral and of impressive precision. The fruit fades slowly whilst the minerality lingers and invites the next sip.

Terroir & Origin

The Darscho – named after one of the small lakes in Seewinkel – benefits from the extraordinary microclimate at Lake Neusiedl. The 20 to 40 year old vines are deeply rooted in this unique terroir and produce wines of remarkable character.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Pure Chardonnay, aged in oak barrels that lend the wine its nutty-vanilla notes and creamy texture without dominating the fruit. A textbook example of oak ageing executed with finesse.

Food Pairing Recommendations

A perfect companion for roasted turbot, scallops, veal schnitzel with cream sauce, risotto with porcini mushrooms or aged hard cheeses such as Comté or mature Gouda.
