Wine Description for K-barré Rosé VdF 2023 from Clos Troteligotte
- Colour & Appearance
- Luminous, semi-transparent ruby red – this wine inhabits that fascinating grey zone between robust rosé and light red wine, a territory that either bewilders or captivates wine enthusiasts. The colour itself reveals the truth: nothing has been clarified or manipulated here.
- Nose
- A wild, seductive fruit basket unfolds in the glass: cherries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries dance in competition with pomegranate juice. Subtle notes of yeast and mineral stone dust join the party – Emmanuel Rybinski has crafted a remarkably coherent aromatic complex from five different grape varieties.
- Palate
- This is Vin de Soif in its purest form – a wine that invites drinking and erects no intellectual barriers. Fruitiness dominates charmingly: once again cherries and red berries, accentuated by a refreshing grapefruit note. The texture is gorgeously juicy and smooth, without any resistance whatsoever. The absence of added sulphites manifests itself in a remarkable openness and drinking pleasure.
- Finish
- Medium length, fruity and uncomplicated – exactly as it should be. No ambitions for eternity, just pure drinking pleasure in the moment.
- Terroir & Origin
- The grapes come from micro-parcels at 350 metres elevation in Clos Troteligotte with clay-limestone soils and fossil-rich Kimmeridge limestone from the Jura. The modest yield of 40 hl/ha guarantees concentration whilst maintaining elegance.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- A bold assemblage of Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Tannat and Malbec – hand-harvested and pressed immediately as whole bunches. Spontaneous fermentation with maceration, six months ageing in concrete tank. Neither clarified nor filtered, no added sulphites – an uncompromising natural wine approach.
- Food Pairing Suggestions
- Lightly chilled (12-14°C) as an aperitif it’s unbeatable. Pairs beautifully with charcuterie, grilled vegetables, tomato and mozzarella, tuna tataki or summer rolls. Also an exciting choice with grilled lamb cutlets.
- Special Characteristics
- A rebellious wine that defies categorisation – neither classical rosé nor conventional red wine. The sulphite-free vinification and the unusual grape variety combination make it the ideal companion for curious wine explorers.
