Wine Description for Château de Pibarnon Rouge AOC 2020 375ml by Château de Pibarnon

Character
Château de Pibarnon ranks among the outstanding estates of the Bandol appellation and stands for uncompromising quality in Provence. This red wine from the half-litre bottle embodies the Mediterranean power and elegance for which the estate is renowned. With 14.5% alcohol, this wine displays the concentrated ripeness of the 2020 vintage, which benefited from ideal conditions in Provence. The Mourvèdre-dominated cuvée with Cinsault component represents the classic signature of an estate that has set standards for decades.
Terroir & Origin
Pibarnon sits majestically on the steep limestone terraces above Bandol, where the vines grow at altitudes up to 300 metres facing the Mediterranean. The sheltered amphitheatre-like location and cooling sea breezes create a unique microclimate that delivers freshness and finesse despite southern heat. The limestone-rich soil gives these wines their characteristic minerality and structure. This exposed location is considered one of the finest terroirs in all of Provence for high-quality red wines.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Mourvèdre forms the backbone of this cuvée – a late-ripening variety that loves warmth and finds its perfect expression in Bandol. It brings structure, depth and ageing potential to the wine. Cinsault complements with its aromatic freshness and elegance, lending the wine charm and accessibility. Château de Pibarnon works with traditional methods, extended skin contact and maturation in large wooden casks to preserve the fruit whilst developing complexity. The result is a wine of impressive concentration and balance.
Food Pairing Suggestions
This powerful Provençal wine harmonises perfectly with grilled lamb with Provençal herbs, ratatouille or braised beef. Also an excellent choice with spiced stews, tapenade and aged hard cheeses. Its Mediterranean character makes it the ideal companion for Provençal braised dishes and aromatic game dishes.
