Wine Description for Château de Pibarnon Rouge AOC 2020 375ml by Château de Pibarnon

Character
Château de Pibarnon ranks among the reference estates of the Bandol appellation and stands for uncompromising quality in Provence. This Rouge embodies the powerful elegance for which the house is renowned – a wine of structure and depth that combines its Mediterranean origin with remarkable finesse. The half-bottle offers the perfect opportunity to discover this characterful Provence wine.
Terroir & Origin
Pibarnon’s vineyards perch on terraced slopes above the coast, where chalky soils meet a unique microclimate. The elevation between 200 and 400 metres provides cooling influences, whilst proximity to the Mediterranean guarantees warmth and light. This combination of Mediterranean climate and chalky terraces creates ideal conditions for slow ripening and aromatic complexity – a terroir that Mourvèdre particularly favours.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Mourvèdre dominates the cuvée and decisively shapes the character of this wine. This late-ripening variety finds perfect conditions at Pibarnon and develops its characteristic dense structure, spicy aromatics and remarkable ageing potential. Cinsault complements with its fresh, fruity note and lends the wine additional elegance. The Château practises traditional vinification with respect for the terroir – artisanal work aimed at authenticity and longevity. At 14.5% vol., the 2020 vintage demonstrates ripeness without the wine losing its balance.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A wine for Provençal cuisine par excellence: Daube provençale, lamb shoulder with Provençal herbs or grilled vegetables with olive oil harmonise beautifully. Also excellent with Ratatouille, Tapenade and aged goat’s cheese, this wine is an ideal companion. The structure also carries more robust dishes such as wild boar terrine or beef ragout with olives.
