Information about the drop
The Pibarnon Bandol Rouge from the 2019 vintage is a harmonious composition of 90 % Mourvèdre and 10 % Grenache. In an amphitheatre-like vineyard overlooking the sea, the vines are rooted in a unique combination of Triassic clay, limestone and chalk. Only the best grapes and the oldest vines at a medium altitude of 250 metres go into this long-lived wine. A fermentation period of about three weeks follows the harvest. Then, depending on the origin of the plots, the wines are matured in individually selected barriques, tonneaux and barrels for a period of 20 months.
Color
This drop presents itself in rich tones of violet-red that extends to the rim of the glass.
Scent
The 2019 Château de Pibarnon Rouge is a wine that invites you on an olfactory voyage of discovery. Rich in aromas of sweet blackberries, black cherries, blackcurrants, elderberries and sweet wild raspberries, it combines fruitiness with notes of tree bark, liquorice, leather, cocoa and roasted herbs such as rosemary, thyme and juniper.
Taste
On the palate, it delights with charm and complexity. Sweet cassis notes combine with distinctive tannins and refreshing acidity. An impressive red wine whose rustic-wild charisma is ideal with hearty dishes and especially game.
Food recommendations
Try this wine with a cheese tart with blue cheese and blackberries, accompanied by a salad of wild rocket and hazelnuts. Alternatively, it goes wonderfully with a pigeon with lime nougat sauce and crispy beetroot chips or wild hare served with a creamy mushroom risotto and fresh thyme.
