Loureiro

Also known as: Loureira (Portugal), Marqués (Galicia)

Loureiro smells of bay leaf – hence the name. The grape variety brings a delicate aromatic profile between citrus blossom and herb garden, which rarely dominates in Vinho Verde wines but adds depth. Where other Portuguese varieties score with acidity, Loureiro adds a floral dimension without becoming heavy.

The range includes all Loureiro wines from Aphros Wine, a biodynamic estate in the Lima subregion. Vasco Croft works with old vines on granite soils and partly ferments spontaneously in amphorae – this gives the wines more structure than the usual light Vinho Verde bottlings.
