Dark purple in colour with an opaque core and garnet red rim, the wine appears clear and bright in the glass.
Good Cabernet Franc is always more like a documentary than a Hollywood blockbuster. This Cabernet Franc is subtle on the one hand and bristles with powerful honesty on the other. Supported by a delicate hint of fruit in the form of red currant and cranberry, the wine focuses almost entirely on its spice. Grilled red pointed peppers, along with paprika and caramelized roasted onion meet smoky notes of charcoal and juniper ham. Dark and dense, yet far from overloaded, it opens up promising depth in the glass.
The 2016 Cabernet Franc Cifra from Duemani moves happily and proudly with its head held high beyond the well-trodden paths that, unfortunately, many still expect from Tuscany. This wine is grippy and, especially considering its youthfulness, has a pithy and dense tannic framework. Crisp acidity gives the 14.5%vol a friendly slap on the butt, allows juice to flow through the veins and gives the full-figured body a proper sense of rhythm.
No jam. No fabric softener.
True Cabernet Franc with humble pride of origin.
