Wine Description for Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Rouge Clou 377 AOP 2023 3000ml Double Magnum by Boris Champy

Colour & Appearance
Medium-dense ruby red with youthful luminosity – a classic Pinot Noir profile from the higher elevations.
Nose
Finely spiced and seductively juicy, the Clou 377 presents itself with a highly refined bouquet of cherries, dark strawberries and raspberries. These are joined by brown spices such as cinnamon and clove, delicate vanilla notes and a hint of peony – an aromatic kaleidoscope of Burgundian elegance.
Palate
Initially dominated by juiciness with a light aromatic yeast veil and brioche notes. The red fruit – cherry, raspberry, strawberry – unfolds fresh and crisp. The tannins still show youthful character and slight drying qualities, but increasingly develop a creamy texture. The wine possesses backbone and structure, feels gripping and firm, gaining elegance with air and warmth. A Pinot with development potential that already brings pleasure now, but definitely still needs time.
Terroir & Origin
The parcel Le Clou sits at an impressive 377 metres elevation in Nantoux. The soil consists of white clay with a high limestone marl content – a very stony vineyard site that Boris Champy affectionately calls his Châteauneuf. The extreme altitude ensures freshness and precision.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pinot Noir from vines planted in the 1980s with over 10,000 vines per hectare trained in Guyot. 90% whole-bunch fermentation, gentle extraction and twelve months ageing in large wooden vats, of which 30% in new wood – crafted with precision and respect for the terroir.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Perfect with Coq au Vin, Boeuf Bourguignon, pink roasted veal fillet or duck breast with cherry sauce. Also an excellent choice with aged Comté or Époisses.
Special Features
The double magnum (3 litres) is the ideal format for patient connoisseurs – the wine will age more slowly and harmoniously in this bottle. An authentic Hautes-Côtes with character and a promising future.
