Colour & Appearance

Powerful and multi-layered, the 2022 Darscho presents itself: nutty and smoky notes from oak ageing blend with vanilla, whilst the fruit palette ranges from orange zest through vineyard peach to apricot. The pronounced minerality lends this wine remarkable complexity and depth even on the nose.

Palate

Here the full class of Darscho reveals itself: juicy, fruity and invigorating with a crisp, fresh acidity that sits perfectly within the fruit structure. A creamy texture rounds off the impressive fullness without the wine losing its tension. The vibrant liveliness and impressive mouthfeel make it a Chardonnay with radiance and character.

Finish

Long, mineral and persistent – the fruit lingers beautifully, carried by a fine salinity that is typical of the Neusiedl Lake location.

Terroir & Origin

The name Darscho refers to one of the small lakes in the Seewinkel that characterise the extraordinary microclimate of this region. The vines are between 20 and 40 years old – an ideal age for concentration and complexity. Lake Neusiedl with its Pannonian influences lends the wine its characteristic minerality and freshness.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Chardonnay, aged in oak barrels that give the wine structure, complexity and those nutty-smoky notes without dominating the fruit. The magnum bottle also promises excellent ageing potential.

Food Pairing Suggestions

A perfect companion to pan-fried monkfish, scallops, veal schnitzel with morels, creamy risotto or mature Comté. The structure and fullness also make it an ideal partner for roasted poultry or pork with mushrooms.
