Welschriesling
Welschriesling is an independent cosmopolitan of Central Europe. Its home lies in the hills of Austria and Slovenia, where it captivates with a striking, vibrant acid structure and delicate notes of green apple, meadow herbs and wet chalk. Its strength lies in an unpretentious clarity that ranges from animating freshness to profound, mineral density. In Styria, Sattlerhof captures this varietal-typical vibrancy with precision, while old vines at Tement develop salty depth and enormous structure. The fact that the variety also shines in blends is demonstrated in Burgenland by Clemens Krutzler, where it appears in Gemischter Satz or as a structure-giving partner to Blaufränkisch. At the table, the wine shines alongside Austrian fried chicken (Backhendl), river fish or delicate summer vegetables.
